Welcome back to the second half of the Spring Term. There are lots of special events happening this term that we hope you will support and take part in!
World Book Day
On Thursday 7th March it is World Book Day. As part of this special day of celebrating ‘books and stories’ we invite the children to bring in their favourite books and stories from home to share with one another and for them to come dressed as a character from a story. Watch out for the staff hopefully dressed up too! All children will be given a voucher towards a book of their choice on Book Day or during a session this week.
There is a nice little book called Ten Little Book Worms that you can claim with the voucher from local supermarkets and book stores.
Please can we remind you that our morning session runs between 9.15am and 12.15pm and our afternoon session runs between 12.15pm and 3.15pm. It is only in very special circumstances that we can take your child outside of their booked hours and would need to be pre-arranged with staff.
During the week of 18th March, we will have a special ‘Bandana Week’ in support of the Brain Tumour Charity. This is a charity we support each year, that is close to our hearts and we hope you will all support us in trying to raise as much money as possible for this crucial charity. This year we have decided to create a whole ‘Bandana Week’ (or Pirate Week as we often call it at Pre-School!), so that all children are able to take part if they wish. Children will be encouraged to come to Pre-School dressed as a pirate and wearing a ‘bandana’. We ask that you might consider sending in a donation at some point during the week, if your child comes dressed up. During the week, children from each family will receive a Head Smart card outlining the symptoms and giving more information about early diagnosis. Please can we thank you in advance for your support of this charity.
If your child turns 3 between 1st January and 31st March, we will need you to complete a Parent Declaration form allowing us to claim funding from Devon County. This is particularly important if your child is entitled to 30 hours funding from April 2019 – please make sure you have filled in a funding form, complete with your 30 hour entitlement code and National Insurance Number, and returned it to the office as soon as possible. Codes are needed by end of term (deadline is 31st March – however, codes need to be validated before this time, so please return your funding form by 22nd March). If you are unsure about whether your child qualifies, you can check your eligibility online.
Save the Date – Easter Open Afternoon
On Friday 5th April we will be holding our annual Easter open afternoon at the Town Hall 1.45pm – 3pm. It will be a fun afternoon of Easter egg hunts, refreshments and Easter craft activities. This is open to all under five children in our community, not just those that attend our Pre-School. More information to follow!
If you are interested in joining the Committee, getting more involved in the running of our Pre-School or fundraising, do email firstname.lastname@example.org and we can give you more information about how to join us!
